masacote dance companyThe Masacote Salsa Dance Company has earned a remarkable reputation as one of the most lauded international ambassadors of Latin Dance and Music and is shaping the perception of Salsa and Latin Dance today.

Led by husband and wife team Ana & Joel Masacote, the company performs to music written specifically for them by Ritmo Masacote.

In 2006, Masacote Dance Company became the first Salsa dance company in the world to perform and choreograph to music created by them and for them by Joel Masacote himself.  In 2008, they became the first to create a scripted dance theater production, entitled "Fantagious," with all music and dance compositions created solely by Masacote.

Originally founded in Okinawa, Japan, the company is now based in Boston, MA, USA and has since gone on to perform in 14 countries, including appearances in Japan, Korea, England, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Germany, Cuba, Canada, and throughout the US.

Ana & Joel Masacote Bio

ana and joel masacoteThis husband and wife team is one of the most sought after in salsa/mambo. Respected for their artistry and musicality, they have taken the interpretation of Salsa Dance to new heights.

Ana and Joel Masacote have taught in over 14 countries, throughout the US and Canada.  They are booked as far as a year in advance and almost every weekend in between to teach and perform around the world.  Currently they embark on 2-5 week European, Asian and US tours ever 2-3 months.

When not traveling to some exotic country, you can find Ana and Joel in Boston, MA teaching advanced master classes and their professional dance troupe of instructors in the Masacote School and Dance Company.  You can follow their extensive tour and travel schedule by visiting their official calendar.

 

Ana Masacote Bio

ana masacoteAna Masacote is one of the top international Salsa instructors & performers in the industry. She began her formal dance training in folklórico at the age of 5 and Salsa at the age of 15.  Ana has since traveled to 14 countries performing and teaching around the world.  Her unique style, movement, musicality, ability to follow any lead, and attention to detail have earned her tremendous popularity around the world.

Outside of dance, Ana attended the prestigious MIT Sloan School of Management and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing.  She co-founded Masacote Dance Company with husband Joel Masacote in 2003.

 

Joel Masacote Bio

joel masacote massicotJoel Masacote is one of the most respected dancers in the salsa industry. Equally skilled in music & dance, his focus lies in the relation of notes to movement.

Joel began training in music in 1986.  In 1995, he began his formal training in salsa dance and began to merge his skills in music and dance.   He has since traveled to 14 countries performing and teaching around the world.  His impeccable ear for music and background in martial arts have earned him respect in salsa and music around the world.

Outside of dance, Joel attended the prestigious Howard University in the Jazz Studies department.  He co-founded Masacote Dance Company with wife Ana Masacote in 2003.
